Description
Microsoft Windows is reported prone to a remote code execution vulnerability. It is reported that the vulnerability manifests when an affected Microsoft platform receives and processes an especially malformed TCP/IP packet.

Reports indicate that the immediate consequences of exploitation of this issue are a denial of service.

Recommendations
Block external access at the network boundary, unless service is required by external parties.
If applicable configure border routers and firewalls to drop malformed packets before they reach internal hosts.

Deploy network intrusion detection systems to monitor network traffic for malicious activity.
Deploy a network intrusion detection sensor on the affected network. Flag on all suspicious and malformed packets that do not abide by a protocol RFC. Audit logs regularly for indications of possible attacks.

Microsoft has released an advisory and updates to address this issue for supported platforms.
