Note: If you are planning on upgrading to ESM 5.1 in the near future, we recommend you install ESM 5.1 before applying SU5. ESM 5.1 contains SU4. If SU5 is installed to an older version of ESM it will need to be reapplied after ESM 5.1 is installed.

Description

Install Security Update 5 to upgrade the Windows NT, Windows 2000, Netware NDS, and UNIX security modules on ESM 4.4, 4.5, and 5.x Agents. For detailed descriptions of new features and enhancements, download the ESM Security Update 5 Release Notes.

New Features and enhancements include:

  • A new template check for file signatures has been added to the Windows 2000, Windows NT, and UNIX File Watch modules.

  • The Patch templates used by ESM's OS Patches modules have been updated.

  • The UNIX "check local disk" option has been dramatically improved so that automounts are never triggered on NFS mountable shares when the option is enabled.

  • The Windows NT and Windows 2000 Tune-up Packs now support a non-interactive "silent" install with a new "-n" command line paramter.

  • Entries have been added to the Windows NT and 2000 registry template to detect vulnerable configurations of MS Outlook.

  • All of ESM's NDS schema extensions have been updated to make the Agent context names compatible with NDS 8 and LDAP.

  • NetWare modules will now run on secondary processors within multi-processor systems.

  • All NDS security modules now fully support LDAP-compliant naming conventions, secondary processor support, and are Novell certified.

  • Security Update 5 is certified by Novell as "Directory Enabled" on NDS 8 and NetWare 5.1.

  • The Netware NDS Object Integrity module checks for "stealth objects", lists all ACLs for any reported stealth objects, and lists objects subordinate to a stealth container.

  • A new NetWare Console Parameters template and a new security check, Check NetWare Console Parameters, lets ESM compare an Agent's console SET parameters with parameters stored in the new template.
