Symantec ESM 5.5 users can use the new LiveUpdate functionality to download the security updates for Windows 2000 and Windows NT agents.
New features and enhancements for Agents running on Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT systems include:
- New support for ESM 5.5 Agents running on Windows XP Professional operating systems. This Security Update release actually installs both the ESM 5.5 Windows XP Agent and the SU10 Windows XP modules.
- Symantec's LiveUpdate technology can be used to upgrade ESM 5.5 Agents with modules released in SU9, SU10, and future Security Update releases.
- Patch Templates
- Patch templates for all Windows Agents have been updated to include patches announced in CERT advisories through CA-2001-31.
- The Conditions sublist that was added to the Patch templates in the SU9 now lets you select one of four conditions for patch record checks.
- Account Integrity Module - All checks for user rights on Windows Agents are now listed under the header, User rights checks. Seven new user rights checks have been added to the Windows 2000 modules, five of which are also included in the Windows XP modules. A check for accounts that must be disabled is also added to modules for all Windows Agents.
- File Templates -- A comment field has been added to file templates for all Windows Agents.
- Password Strength Module - The Password Must Expire check now includes a text box where you can type 'Yes' or 'No' to indicate whether you want the check to report users who cannot change their passwords.
