Note: If you plan to upgrade to Symantec ESM 5.5 in the near future, you may want to do so before applying Security Update 16 (SU16). Symantec ESM 5.5 contains SU8. If SU16 is installed to an older version of Symantec ESM, it will need to be reapplied after Symantec ESM 5.5 is installed.

Description
Install Security Update 16 to upgrade UNIX and Windows security modules on Symantec ESM 5.1 and 5.5 agents. For detailed descriptions of new features and enhancements, download Security Update 16 Release Notes.

Note: Use SU15 for NetWare. SU16 is compatible with Symantec ESM 5.5.3 Japanese on Windows and Solaris operating systems only.

Windows only platforms

• New checks are in the Symantec Product Info module for Norton AntiVirus and Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition.

UNIX only platforms

• New checks are added to the Network Integrity module for access control.
• New checks in Security Updates 13 and 14 are supported on most UNIX-based supported operating systems.
