Description
The Symantec Enterprise Security Manager™ Security Update 31 has been enhanced to support Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (x86, Opteron, EM64T, and IA64-bit) agents. In addition, one new check has been added in the Login Parameters module.

Install Security Update 31 to upgrade UNIX and Windows security modules on Symantec ESM 5.5 and 6.x agents. For detailed descriptions of new features and enhancements, download Security Update 31 Release Notes.

Enhancements
The Security Update 31 provides the following enhancements:

• Support for the following new operating system:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (x86, Opteron, EM64T, and IA64-bit)
• One new check in the Login Parameters module
  • Warning banners (/etc/issue)

About Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) agents
The Symantec ESM 6.5 Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) agents have been updated to fix the following issues:

• Denial-of-service vulnerability
• Manifest.xml was not getting updated after applying LiveUpdate on the Windows Vista agents
