Symantec reveals the findings of a new report on the adoption of virtualisation and cloud computing in the European finance sector. The study looked into the awareness, adoption, goals and challenges of organisations in the finance sector, compared to other industries.
The results show that financial services institutions in Europe are more engaged in discussing emerging technologies (including cloud computing, virtualisation and mobile) than other industries and have robust IT budgets to implement new systems. However, a disconnect exists between how the financial services industry expects these technologies to perform and the reality of what these technologies have achieved. The survey also reveals that concerns surrounding security and compliance are keeping the financial services industry from moving business-critical applications to virtualised or hybrid cloud environments.
