Symantec Reports First Quarter Fiscal Year 2010 Results

Reading, UK – July 30, 2009 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC) has reported the results of its first quarter of fiscal year 2010, ended July 3, 2009. GAAP revenue for the fiscal first quarter was $1.43 billion. Non-GAAP revenue was $1.44 billion, down 13 percent (down 4 percent after adjusting for currency and the extra 14th week in the first quarter of fiscal year 2009) over the comparable period a year ago. Non-GAAP revenue for the year-ago period included approximately $75 million of one-time benefit from the extra week of activity. Year-over-year, foreign currency fluctuations negatively impacted non-GAAP revenue by approximately $75 million.
