Symantec Launches Graduate Recruitment Scheme
London, U.K. - Symantec, the world’s leading provider of IT security software, today launches its first graduate recruitment and internship programme for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. As part of a larger global recruitment initiative to hire over 350 graduates for all areas of the business, from the Enterprise Vault (R&D) to Marketing, Symantec EMEA will employ 39 graduates and 13 interns across 9 countries during 2010.
Specific to the UK, where 25 of the graduates and all 13 interns will be recruited, Symantec will visit UK universities, including Reading, Southampton and Surrey, during the new academic year and will exhibit at the National Graduate Recruitment Exhibition in London’s Olympia on 9 and 10 October. Online activity includes the creation of a Facebook portal to act as the hub of the campaign and connect directly with students. www.facebook.com/symantecUR will provide students with information about the graduate programme and allow them to apply to Symantec directly through the social media platform.
A Fortune 500 company, Symantec employs more than 17,500 people globally and is expanding rapidly as exponential growth in use of the internet by individuals and businesses is matched by a surge in cyber crime, which is now a more profitable crime than drug trafficking. The ever-present need for people to have confidence in their IT systems in an increasingly connected world has enabled Symantec to grow from $600 million in revenue to more than $6 billion in just 10 years. Now, as Symantec enters its next growth phase it has begun the search for a new generation of security professionals and support staff.
Michaela Burr, Director Talent Acquisition, EMEA, commented: “Despite the challenging times, Symantec is dedicated to investing in its people and attracting the brightest talent. We have grown enormously as an organisation in the last ten years and it is important that our organisational culture matures at the same pace. The future looks positive for Symantec and we’re excited about finding some of our future leaders amongst today’s graduates.”
