Symantec fills customer Christmas stockings with movie bonus

AUCKLAND -- December 11, 2002 -- Symantec, the world leader in Internet security, has announced that this Christmas it will be offering a bonus Paramount movie title to customers purchasing Norton Internet Security 2003 or other selected suite products from its Norton 2003 retail range.

The promotion will run until January 13, 2003 and customers can choose either a bonus DVD or VHS from a range of Paramount classics - Grease PG, Saturday Night Fever MA15+, Ghost M15+, Ferris Bueller's Day Off PG, Top Gun PG or The Truman Show PG.

New Zealand Country Manager for Symantec, Richard Batchelar says following the success of similar campaigns held throughout the year, they are confident the promotion will provide excellent value to consumers.

"We have worked with our partners to ensure maximum exposure of the promotion and we look forward to another successful Christmas sales period for both Symantec and the channel," says Batchelar.

Paramount Home Entertainment also believes the holiday promotion will prove irresistible for consumers. The movie giant has experienced significant successes in 2002 with the DVD releases of the blockbuster classics Grease and Saturday Night Fever, which are included in Symantec's promotion.

"There is no doubt that sales of DVDs will reach new heights this holiday season - not only will we see growth in the new release category - but also movie classics as consumers look to replace their existing video collections," says Darrien Puddy, Commercial Director, Paramount Home Entertainment, "we are thrilled to be joining Symantec in what we see is a creative way of reaching new customers."

Customers who purchase a current Symantec suite product such as Norton Internet Security 2003 or Norton SystemWorks 2003 can choose to either receive a DVD or VHS from a selection of six Paramount titles. Customers who purchase one of Symantec's current point products such as Norton AntiVirus 2003 or Norton Personal Firewall 2003 can claim a bonus Grease VHS. Symantec's current Macintosh products are also included in this promotion.

To redeem a bonus movie title, customers must complete their details on the on-box sticker and send it, together with a photocopy of their sales receipt and the cut-out cardboard barcode from the bottom of their purchased product, to Symantec by January 27, 2003.
