"Cyber Safe" Internet Security Awareness Programme Awards Presented to Sixteen Winners

Award ceremony marks campaign to heighten awareness of Internet security among Hong Kong's schoolchildren, teachers and social workers

Hong Kong -- 10 January 2004 - The Hong Kong Police's Commercial Crime Bureau, Internet security leader Symantec, and the Community Services Division of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, today presented awards to the winners of the "Cyber Safe" Internet Security Awareness competition. The website and bookmark design competition was part of a five month programme designed to promote greater awareness of Internet security and illustrate the dangers of hacking and cybercrime among Hong Kong's schoolchildren, and the teachers and social workers who supervise them.

Open to all schools in Hong Kong, 16 prize winners were selected from a total of 881 entries. The entries were judged by representatives from Hong Kong Police, Education Manpower Bureau and Symantec on 4 core principals: design, content, appearance and technique. The grand prize winners of both the bookmark and website design competitions will receive HK$3000 each with the first runner-ups collecting HK$2000 and the second runner-ups getting HK$1000. In addition, five students in each category will receive merit prizes of Norton Internet Security 2004 Software.
